Devlog 1: Music That Reacts

It’s been about a month since the jam version came out, and we’ve been busy. A lot has changed behind the scenes already, and while we can’t show off everything just yet, we decided to start drip-feeding updates week by week. Consider this the first of several devlogs in the pipeline — there’s more happening than you know 👀.

The flashiest thing we’ve added is dynamic music tracks unique for each location (more on locations at a later devblog). Instead of one looping song, the soundtrack is built from multiple layers that fade in and out depending on tension. Calm moments feel laid back, but when the action spikes — the music slams down with you.

To make it even more immersive, the background shader system is now alive too. Not only does it change based on location/opponent - It reacts directly to what’s happening in the game, pulsing and flowing with your moves. The result? Every round feels unique, alive, and unpredictable.

✨ That’s it for this week’s look under the hood. Next time we’ll be talking about some of the deep technical rewrites that make all of this possible. Stay tuned — we’re just getting started.
